We don’t want to scare you… but here’s a good example of what can happen if you don’t maintain your lines: you could end up with a fatberg that then causes overflow (not a pretty sight).
This 1/2 tonne fatberg in Gisborne was 15m long and made up of:
- solid fat
- rags
- wet wipes
- condoms
It took almost a day to break the fatberg down! As the Gisborne Council says: “Sinks are not rubbish bins” and “please only flush the 3 Ps — pee, poo and toilet paper”.

Wet wipes are the new plastic bag! They cause massive issues when they’re dropped down the loo, so please don’t do it!
If you’re a council and you need some advice around a maintenance plan for your sewer and stormwater lines, we’re happy to help.
