Regular servicing helps keep your wastewater system running safely and efficiently, and can help prevent costly problems down the track.
During a routine service with HydroVac, our technician will:
- Check the electrical compartment for any corrosion or damage.
- Test the high-level alarm system to ensure it is operating correctly. (If the alarm is located inside the home or garage and no one is present, the audible alarm may not always be heard or may be muted.)
- Check the aerator / air blower to confirm it is supplying air to support the beneficial bacteria that treat the wastewater.
- Inspect internal pipework and sludge return lines for any blockages.
- Check inlet and outlet pipes to ensure they are clear.
- Measure sludge and crust levels in the chambers to help determine when the tank may need emptying (typically every 5–8 years or 8–10 years for a Biocycle system).
- Remove and clean the solids filter and irrigation filter (if fitted).
- Check the operation of the submersible pump.
- Flush disposal field lines and check for leaks where they are accessible.
If we identify any faults or maintenance issues during the service, we will contact you before carrying out any additional work. Some repairs may require a qualified electrician or other specialist, and we will let you know if this is the case.
To keep your wastewater system running smoothly, we do recommend you clean your filter regularly and open your field irrigation taps, if you have them. Find out more about that HERE.
