Jamie, Shay B, and Brett just completed 3 nights of technical excavation for Auckland Motorways using air vac. It was a job that required expertise and huge concentration levels: not only did they have to excavate over and behind a retaining wall for new drainage, they were confined by the close proximity of a bridge above.
Initially the client approached us for a hydro excavation job to remove clay they could install gabion rock baskets. However, when Mike Z β our newly appointed project coordinator and a former senior air vac operator β scoped the job, he recommended air excavation.
Over the 3 nights almost 30 tonnes of product was removed, with little to no mess. If we’d gone ahead and used a hydro excavation truck, the time at the job and the disposal would have both been double. Itβs so important to have the right truck for the job.
