At HydroVac you never know where your job will take you… Our CCTV crew recently did a job at MOTAT, the Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland. While it would have been tempting to spend the day looking at the exhibits, we were there to do a full CCTV inspection of their underground pipes, reporting back on their condition.
Why is it important to do a pipe condition check? It tells you what lies beneath, before it turns into a bigger (more expensive) problem. Things we’re looking for when we do a pipe inspection: broken or cracked pipes, tree root intrusions, displaced pipes, concrete in the line, debris or rubbish blocking the pipes, fat build-up, and so on.
Regular maintenance is always cheaper than reacting to an emergency issue that’s blown out into a bigger job. As an example, we’ve seen cases where a small broken joint was left too long, resulting in flooding and an entire pipeline needing fixing.
We recommend commercial properties inspect and clean out pipes once a year. (Residential properties depend on the individual house.) Contact us if you’d like to start a pipe inspection and cleaning maintenance schedule with HydroVac.
