For the past few years, HydroVac’s South Island team have been working with the Christchurch Northern Corridor Alliance (CNC) on the build of the Transport Agency’s Northern Arterial – a new section of State Highway 74.
The CNC is the first alliance contract of this size in the South Island. It is an alliance between the NZ Transport Agency, Christchurch City Council, Fulton Hogan, Aurecon and Jacobs.
Hydrovac have been providing hydo- and air-excavation services to locate services along the next stretch of road, and then to pot-hole before the construction crew start work, to ensure they don’t strike services while they’re digging.
Matthew and his team have also been trenching to lay fibre and power cables on areas where it’s too risky to get a digger in.
The motorway is due to be completed in 2020.
