Tyler Casey has just been promoted in-house to the role of field operations manager where he’s charged with making the team run smoothly and efficiently, among other things. We quickly ran him through a Q&A so you could get to know him better…
Q. What did you do before HydroVac?
A. I was building and running paintball centres in Canada. It was a customer-facing role.
Q. What made you want to work for HydroVac?
A. It started off as a casual summer role for me – it meant I had an income over the Canadian winter (while on holiday from my Canadian gig) and I could spend Christmas with my family here. Of course, that all changed with Covid!
Q. What excites you about your role?
A. The opportunity to develop the staff, the company and myself.
Q. What’s surprised you about HydroVac so far?
A. How well they look after their team.
Q. What are the priorities, now you’re in the role?
A. It’s a steep learning curve. I’m trying to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. Training, development and recruitment is something I’m keen to really get into.
Q. Tell us about your home life…
A. Home life is simple. I live in Hobby Point. I try to get to f45 after a day’s work and to play social sports. Weekends involve low-key strolls through the Waitaks or getting out to Muriwai to recharge.
Q. How do you relax?
A. Muriwai sunsets are my go-to chill time.
Q. What would surprise us about you?
A. I play golf and would not turn down a decent anime (Japanese animation).
