Mike Zwerink has just been promoted in-house to the role of operations project manager, a role he’s excited to get his teeth into. We quickly ran him through a Q&A so you could get to know him better…
Q. What made you want to work for HydroVac?
I can’t remember why I first applied but after my year away working elsewhere it was obvious that that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side – HydroVac really looks after their employees and offers so much support so I was happy to be back.
Q. What excites you about your role?
Building customer relationships, helping deliver the best service and outcome possible for the client, and the future of the company.
Q. What did you do before HydroVac?
I did a season of dairy farming.
Q. What’s surprised you about HydroVac so far?
The exciting growth the company is experiencing, how much they care for their employees and their willingness to develop their team.
Q. What are the priorities, now you’re in the role?
Doing my very best to ensure our clients get what they ask for and ensuring the job gets done right the first time. Making sure jobs have been scoped correctly and that our teams are properly equipped for the task at hand
Q. Tell us about your home life…
I look after the family farm (sheep, dogs etc) and I am the eldest (I have 3 younger sisters). Pre-Covid I would host many foreign travellers, so after work I’d be spending time showing them some of the West Coast beauty – I have a pretty busy after-work life!
Q. How do you relax?
Family is everything – I enjoy spending any spare time with friends and family. Otherwise I relax at the bach on Waiheke, the beach or by spending time in the gym.
