We’re excited to have Gerard Currie join our Christchurch branch as a sales representative, helping us look after our clients. We ran him through our Q&A to get to know him a little better…
Q. What made you want to work for HydroVac?
The positive feedback I received from existing employees which was: great culture, a consultive management style, and pathways for staff going forward.
Q. What excites you about your role?
The variety of work and projects that you are constantly involved with on a day-to-day basis — no day is the same!
Q. What did you do before HydroVac?
I have held a variety of sales-related positions that involved project management so I am excited to be able to contribute the experiences I have obtained and to be a part of the HydroVac team.
Q. What’s surprised you about HydroVac so far?
The knowledge and experience that the current staff have and the complexity of our underground water infrastructure.
Q. What are the priorities, now you’re in the role?
To grow the business and to establish HydroVac as the go-to company for advice on all the services we offer which includes air excavation, stormwater, grease traps & converters, wastewater & sewer, CCTV drain & pipe Inspections, drain maintenance, spill & flood response and – of course – hydro excavation.
Q. Tell us about your home life…
I live in North Canterbury in a house that is undergoing EQC-related damage repairs and, as they say, it’s a work in progress! My fiancé and I both enjoy the rural aspects that our community offers.
Q. How do you relax?
I enjoy socialising with family and friends. I am a member of the local Surf Lifesaving Club and I also enjoy going to the gym and reading the odd book or two.
Q. What would surprise us about you?
I play percussion.
