Q&A with Sanjay Kumar

After eight years with HydroVac Auckland, Sanjay briefly stepped away to broaden his experience in project management, leadership, marketing, and sales. Now he’s back on board – in Wellington, this time, thriving in the fast-paced, team-driven environment, where every day brings a new challenge. Here’s a quick Q&A with Sanjay.

Q. What made you want to work for HydroVac?
A.  I worked at HydroVac in Auckland for eight years before taking another job to gain new experience. Now I’ve returned because I know it’s a great company to work for, and I enjoy the work and the team environment.

Q. What excites you about your role?
A. I enjoy leading a team and solving problems, but what really excites me is the fast pace and consistency at HydroVac. Every day brings a new challenge – you never know what to expect, and that keeps the job interesting.

Q. What did you do before HydroVac?
A. My last role at HydroVac included customer service, dispatch, and senior CCTV drain inspections. I’ve now returned with added skills in project management, job scoping, team leadership, as well as marketing and sales.

Q. What do you enjoy about working here?
A. I really enjoy meeting new clients and different people regularly – it keeps things interesting and helps build strong relationships. I also appreciate working with a great team that’s supportive and works well together, which makes the job more enjoyable every day.

Q. Tell us about your family/home life…
A. I’m married to a wonderful woman, and we have two beautiful girls – a two-year- old who loves to run around, dance, sing, and help me out in the garage, and a five- month-old who’s still little. We enjoy spending time together at home or at the park for some fresh air.

Q. How do you relax?
A. I like to relax by going to the gym and working on projects in the garage. It helps me unwind and stay active.

Q. What would surprise us about you?
A. I’m really into science fiction and astrophysics. I enjoy reading books and watching documentaries about space and the universe.
