The problem with “hoppers” of any sort is that product invariably ends up spilling out of or under them. When that spillage builds up over time, it can obstruct and damage conveyor belts or chain drives — plus it’s expensive to lose product to spillage!
What if we could retrieve that product? Removing it from where it’s spilled and giving it back to you in tip-top condition so you can put back into the supply chain?
Our Christchurch team did this exact task recently. A whole lot of blasting sand ended up in a confined space under a client’s hopper and they wanted to remove it, and save the sand for use later. Enter our AirX truck.
Not only can our air excavator dig holes without water, it can also double as a DryVac for jobs just like this. Our crew used our confined space entry procedures, policy and equipment to enter the chamber and vacuum the offending sand out.
The piles in the photo show how the sand looked when it came out of the truck – pretty pristine! For this client we left it on the ground but we also could have loaded it directly onto a trailer or into sling bags hung off the side of the truck.
